  • CBS Radio’s Mix 106.5 FM hosts an annual Radiothon to benefit the young patients and their families at Hopkins Children’s. Radiothon is a marathon radio broadcast that takes place live in the hospital lobby. Radiothon has become the most identified radio event in Baltimore and the first and longest running of its kind in the country. For more than two decades — and thanks to the devotion of the listening audience and generosity of MIX 106.5 corporate sponsors — Radiothon has raised over $19 million for patient and family care here. In 2016, the two-day event raised more than $1,200,000.

  • A genuine love of children is one of many positive values that Costco employees share, so it’s not surprising that Costco and Costco employees and customers began raising money for Johns Hopkins Children’s and sick kids through their Columbia, Arundel Mills, Glen Burnie and White Marsh stores. Over the years, Costco’s participation in Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has expanded along with the growth of the company, raising money for Children’s Miracle Network-affiliated children’s hospitals in every community where Costco warehouses are located.

Costco runs a member campaign in the month of May, where customers are asked to donate a dollar to purchase a “miracle balloon.” The warehouses also coordinate in-store canisters, and employees participate in a variety of community activities and fundraisers throughout the year.

  • Credit Unions for Kids is a nonprofit collaboration across the country, engaged in fundraising activities to benefit 170 Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. The effort, which is driven by a “people helping people” philosophy, includes individual credit unions, local chapters, state leagues/associations, two national trade organizations, business partners and several trade publications.

The Baltimore-area credit union community has established several area fundraising events, including the Cherry Blossom 10-Mile Run in Washington, D.C., and Bowling for Kids event in May. Other activities run the gamut from holiday festivities to paper balloon sales.
